Inserted in the year-long activities, CINANIMA presents Animation at Five, feature films destinated to an older audience in monthly screenings. Our film for March is “Persepolis”, directed by the iranian Marjane Satrapi and the french Vincent Parannaud, based Satrapi’s autobiographical graphic novel of the same name.
This multi-award-winning film tells the story of the 1979 Islamic revolution in Iran as seen by a young girl who has conversations with God and Karl Marx, who dreams of being a prophet and is forced to wear the veil but also wearing a punk shirt and listening to Iron Maiden, unhappy with the cultural change in her country.
