CINANIMA JUNIOR is an initiative of the Educational Service of CINANIMA – International Festival of Animation Cinema of Espinho, co-organized by the Nascente Cooperative (Nonprofit Cultural Action Cooperative) and the Espinho City Hall.
CINANIMA JUNIOR contains three animation cinema programmes (extensions of the CINANIMA festival) that include films submitted to CINANIMA in the previous year. CINANIMA JUNIOR was launched in 2014 in partnership with the National Cinema Plan and the Portuguese Film Institute, and has as a patron the Manuel António da Mota Foundation.
CINANIMA JUNIOR includes three distinct programmes that are designed for three specific age groups:
Children’s Programme: for pre-school and primary school students, planned for an age range of 3 to 9 year-olds;
Adolescent’s Programme: for students from 5th to 9th grade, planned for an age range of 10 to 15 year-olds;
Youth Programme: for high school students, planned for an age range of 15 to 18 year-olds.
The CINANIMA JUNIOR sessions are programmed annually, beginning on December 1st, shortly after the end of the CINANIMA festival, which takes place in the second week of November, and continuing until August 31 of the following year, immediately before the beginning of the next edition of the Festival. To requisition any of the CINANIMA JUNIOR Programmes all interested entities and institutions must meticulously follow the specific regulations that stipulate the obligatory rules and procedures.
