INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

SHORT FILMS

The International Short Film Jury may award the following prizes:
a) CINANIMA 2026 Grand Prize – Short Films | Oscar Qualifying Award
b) Special Jury Prize
c) +Short – Alves Costa Award – Best film up to 4 minutes in length
d) Award for Best Animated Documentary
e) Award for Best Commissioned Film
f) Award for Best Experimental Film
g) Award for Best Sound Design
h) Award for Best Screenplay

FEATURE FILMS

The International Feature Film Jury will award the following prize:
CINANIMA 2026 Grand Prize – Feature Film

 
 

STUDENT FILMS

The International Student Film Jury will award the following prize:
CINANIMA 2026 Grand Prize – Student Film – Gaston Roch Award to the Best Student Film, up to 30 minutes in length, made by students or graduates and produced in Art Schools, Film Schools, or Film Training Institutions.

 
 

ALL ABOARD AWARD 

The Jury for the All Aboard Competition may award the following prize:
CINANIMA 2026 Grand Prize – All Aboard

ALL ABOARD is an international short film competition dedicated to works that stand out for their originality, creative risk, and strong authorial identity. It brings together films that challenge aesthetic or narrative conventions, explore new languages of animation, and assert singular visions of the world.
A space for the unexpected.

 


YOUNG DOLPHIN AWARD

The Jury for the Young Dolphin Competition will atribute the following awards:
a) Young Dolphin Award – best film for children up to 10 years old
b) Young Dolphin Award – best film for children and youngsters over 10 to 15 years old
c) Young Dolphin Award – best film for youth over 15 to 18 years old

 

AUDIENCE AWARD 

Awarded by the Festival Audience through voting, honouring their favourite film among those screened in any of the International Competitions.
 

NATIONAL COMPETITION

The National Jury will award the following prizes:

a) ANTÓNIO GAIO Award for Best Film in the National Competition
b) YOUNG PORTUGUESE DIRECTOR <15 Award for the Best Film made by Children and Young People (up to 15 years old) within educational activities or workshops
c) YOUNG PORTUGUESE DIRECTOR >15 Award for the Best Film made by Portuguese young filmmakers (aged between 15 and 25), students or graduates of Art and Film Schools

 
 
Both the International Jury and the National Jury may award a SPECIAL MENTION, accompanied by a written statement justifying the decision.
