We were present at the 48th Annecy Animation Film Festival (International du Film d’Animation d’Annecy), which this year honoured Portuguese animation and broke a record of more than 17,400 accredited spectators, including audiences and professionals from 103 countries.
The Annecy Festival is held annually and is a meeting point for the world of animation. This event includes not only film screenings but also activities, masterclasses and networking opportunities, making it a world reference.
We brought back from this trip a lot of experience and knowledge that is essential for our growth as an Animation Festival and we couldn’t be prouder of Portugal’s achievements.
“Percebes”, by Laura Gonçalves and Alexandra Ramires, produced by the BAP Animation co-operative, with French co-production, won the Cristal Prize for Best Short Film, the second time this prize has been awarded to a Portuguese animated short film at Annecy (Regina Pessoa won in 2006 with “História trágica com final feliz”).
Also noteworthy were Adam Elliot’s “Memoir of a Snail”, which won the prize for best animated feature film, Sophie Roze’s “Une guitare à la mer”, which won the prize for best work for television, and Daniel Sterlin-Altman’s “Carrotica”, which received the prize for best student film. “Flow”, by Gints Zilbalodis, won the audience award, the jury award and a distribution award.
Hungary will be the guest country for the next edition.
