CINANIMA is once again making its mark internationally, with two works selected for the official competition at ANIMASYROS 2025 – International Animation Festival, which will take place from 22 to 28 September on the island of Syros, Cyclades, Greece.
In the “TV & Commissioned Films Competition Section“ category, the trailer of the 48th edition of CINANIMA (PT, 0’50”, 2024) was selected, created by students Alina Didenko, Eliana Silva, Laura Anahory, Mariana Pinheiro and Telma Pereira, from the Master’s in Sound and Image (specialising in Animation) at the School of Arts – Portuguese Catholic University, under the guidance of Professor Sahra Kunz.
CINANIMA’s FRAME project, through the Children F1rst initiative, is also represented in the ‘K.ID. S Competition Section‘ category, with the short film ’The Flower of Freedom’, made by the primary school students from Escola Básica da Regedoura, AE Ovar Sul, under the guidance of directors and trainers Ema Lavrador and Leonor Faria Henriques.
These selections reinforce CINANIMA’s international profile and highlight the importance of Portuguese animation, both in an academic context and in terms of children’s involvement in artistic creation.
