🌊 The Queen of the Green CoastEspinho is known as the Queen of the Costa Verde, a seaside town that combines tradition and modernity. Located just 20 kilometers from Porto and easily accessible, it offers a privileged location for those looking to discover the region, while enjoying a relaxed atmosphere.
Its extensive golden sandy beaches stretch for eight kilometers and are its main attraction. Here, the tranquility of the more sheltered sands coexists with the energy of the waves that attract surfers from all over the world.
During CINANIMA, the city becomes the stage for the best international animated films, bringing together creators, students, critics, and audiences in a vibrant and unique atmosphere.
✈️ From Sá Carneiro Airport (Porto):
Follow the signs to the Metro and take Line B (red) to Campanhã (20–30 min). Then take the train to Ovar/Aveiro and get off at Espinho (30–40 min).
🚖 Uber or Taxi: Uber is a practical and more economical alternative to a taxi (check the app).
🚄 Trains: Espinho is on the Porto–Lisbon railway line, with fast and frequent connections.
The city offers a range of accommodation options: from beachfront hotels to apartments and local lodgings, ideal for families or longer stays. Meet some of our partners: Aparthotel Solverde, Hotel Mar Azul and 18 St. Hostel. Advance booking is recommended during the festival.
At the table, Espinho is synonymous of fresh fish and seafood, often grilled in front of you in typical restaurants by the beach, whether in summer or winter. The local cuisine combines Atlantic flavors with traditional Portuguese cooking, making the city a true paradise for food lovers.
Some of the restaurants are partners of CINANIMA, offering unique gastronomic experiences to those visiting the festival: Aipal, Aquário Marisqueira D’Espinho, Barbosa Kebab, O Golfinho and Restaurante Baliza.
FACE – Fórum de Arte e Cultura de Espinho hosts exhibitions and workshops related to visual and performing arts, while Casino de Espinho is an historic venue for entertainment and shows. The Academia de Música de Espinho enriches the city’s cultural program, and the weekly market on Mondays, one of the largest in the country, fills the streets with color, aromas, and life.
A few kilometers from Espinho are Vila Nova de Gaia and Porto, Portugal’s second largest city. Here, in addition to the historical and architectural heritage, you can learn about the centuries-old tradition of Port Wine, visit cellars, and participate in unforgettable tastings.

The festival takes place in various cultural venues around the city, each with its own specific program:
