The stop motion short films created by the students as part of the Children F1rst training programme, part of the FRAME Project – Watching and Making Animated Cinema, have once again stood out abroad, this time with nominations in New York, Norway and the Atlantic Highlands.
Under the guidance of directors and trainers Ema Lavrador and Leonor Faria Henriques, students from AE Argoncilhe – EB do Souto de Nogueira da Regedoura, Agrupamento de Escolas Dr Manuel Laranjeira, Externato Nossa Senhora de Fátima and Agrupamento de Escolas Ovar Sul brought the short films ‘Hello Granpa, Hello Grandma’, ‘The Girl from the Sea and the Boy from the Land’, ‘The Populator’ and ‘The Flower of Freedom’ to life.
After months of work, creativity and dedication, these films are now beginning to gain international visibility, being selected for festivals that recognise the emerging talent of young filmmakers.
It’s another source of pride for the small directors and trainers, as well as for all those who believe in the power of cinema as an educational and creative tool.
